Offline API search
Find signatures, effects, contracts and documentation with sakura doc.
sakura doc searches the current project and the embedded std library without contacting a service. Run these commands from a project directory:
sakura doc --search "fn(List<A>) -> Int"
sakura doc std::list::len
sakura doc --json std::list::lenA symbol argument containing :: is an exact symbol ID; other arguments search by name. --search matches a type pattern. Human output includes the symbol ID, signature, effect row, contracts and doc comment when present.
--json prints one JSON object, not JSON Lines: snapshot, total, symbols and truncated. The symbol records use the compiler MCP symbol_query representation with a type field. No matches gives total: 0 and exit 0; the human command prints “no symbol matches”. Treat that as an empty search result, not a compiler diagnostic.
Use MCP when an agent needs structured queries alongside checking and edits. The standard-library index is a browsable copy of the source signature inventory. sakura doc --index is not implemented.
