V8005 dependencies_not_supported

Packages are not supported yet: sakura.toml declares [dependencies] (design §17.232, RFC 0001).

An error from the package phase. sakura explain V8005 prints this explanation offline.

Packages are not supported yet: sakura.toml declares [dependencies] (design §17.232, RFC 0001). This release compiles one package over std; packages arrive in a later minor release, and the key is reserved until then. Any form is refused before anything runs: an empty table, entries, an inline dependencies = {} or a dotted key. Nothing is fetched and sakura.lock is untouched. Remove the table and use std; do not vendor another package's sources into src/ to stand in for it.

Wrong:

[package]
name = "billing"
[dependencies]

Fixed:

[package]
name = "billing"

Wrong program

compiler/tests/ui/V8005_dependencies_table/, which the compiler's ui suite runs through sakura check:

main.sak:

// Packages arrive in a later minor (design §17.232): a `[dependencies]` table is refused even empty.
pub fn main() -> Unit ! {Console} { Console.print("hi") }

sakura.toml:

[package]
name = "billing"

[dependencies]

sakura check --json reports this record (pretty-printed; $DIR is the fixture's directory):
